Hacia una medición alternativa del bienestar subjetivo en México: propuesta de un índice de privación material

Resumen
La medición del bienestar subjetivo a través del ingreso presenta limitaciones teóricas y empíricas que impulsan indicadores alternativos basados en condiciones materiales de vida. Para México no existe un instrumento de privación orientado al bienestar subjetivo. El propósito de este estudio es construir un índice de privación como propuesta metodológica alternativa para aproximarse al bienestar subjetivo de los mexicanos a partir de dimensiones materiales. La investigación es cuantitativa, no experimental y transversal. Los datos provienen de la Encuesta Nacional de Ingresos y Gastos de los Hogares (INEGI, 2023). Mediante el Análisis Factorial de Componentes Principales se sintetizan 23 variables en ocho dimensiones: infraestructura y calidad de la vivienda, servicios básicos, vestido, comunicaciones y transportes, disponibilidad de bienes y capacidad para reemplazarlos, educación financiera, salud y ocio. Los resultados indican que el 65.67% de los mexicanos presenta privación material y solo el 8.80% cubre todas sus necesidades; la media del índice fue 0.66 y la desviación estándar 0.12. El factor con mayor capacidad explicativa son la disponibilidad de computadora, automóvil y televisión. Los hallazgos destacan la necesidad de incorporar dimensiones materiales en políticas públicas sobre bienestar subjetivo.
